             HAP KI DO

One of the most respected Korean Martial arts is Hapkido which is an art of self defense. On can understand the true meaning of Hapkido once the term has been translated into English. Hap means "together," referring to body and spirit, Ki defines life and energy and Do means "way of life."

The art includes a wide array of weapon techniques, kicks, hits, pressure techniques, arm and leg joint locks, as well as throws and self defense stances.

A number of other Korean fighting systems have inspired Hapkido and these include jujusu and aikido which are soft martial arts as well as taekwondo which is a hard martial art. With all these combined, Hapkido has developed into a hard-soft art of self defense.Hapkido is a very much alive martial art which teaches self defense techniques. This art is present in all parts of the world. Teachings and practices may vary slightly, but the unison of body, mind, and spirit are essential to unlocking the power of defense.

                 Aikido

Aikido is a pure physical art form and a Japanese martial art. Most of the throws and joint locks that are performed in Aikido are derivatives of Jujitsu and Kenjutsu. Aikido is a martial art that has been described as a spiritual journey, a self-defense technique, and an exercise for physical health and overall well-being. Training for Aikido is usually performed with a partner where one of the aikdoka blends with the motion of the opponent and redirects the force of his attack. Increased energy, elasticity, and muscle development will occur as a result of training, but the practices themselves do not rely on strength for effectiveness.

            Kung Fu

While many styles of Kung Fu are founded upon the same beliefs, there are variations of each style in terms of principles and techniques. A lot of the styles incorporate techniques from animals as well as Chinese philosophies. Kung fu training is quite extensive. All parts of a practitioners body and mind experience a thorough work-out. There are different techniques that require deep meditation, special stances and forms of posture, joint rotations and stretching, forms, basic stages, training of weapons, sparring, and the use of qi, often referred to as chi. Chi refers to the idea of flowing energy and in traditional Chinese culture, this energy is inherent in everything.
